CATRICE Absolute Rose Eyeshadow Palette REVIEW & SWATCHES

CATRICE Absolute Rose Eyeshadow Palette REVIEW & SWATCHES

This post is going to be a DISAPPOINTED PRODUCT review.

Product Description

La vie en rose! Treat yourself to a natural, soft eye look with this classic Absolute Rose Eyeshadow Palette from Catrice. This palette contains six soft shades of rose in matte and shimmering finishes to create a beautiful natural look whether they are used solo or as a team. The texture is silky soft with high pigmentation to create the rosiest eye looks. Includes a dual-ended applicator. Not tested on animals.

Price

0.21 oz for $6.99 (only at ULTA)

Packaging

Transparent plastic compact with a dual-ended applicator. Typical drugstore eyeshadow palette package, nothing much to say.

Swatches

I used Eyeshadow Primer Potion from Urban Decay as the base for the swatches and eye makeup. Swatches are shown in both flashlight and indoor natural light.

  • shade 1 is a matte cream with subtle pigmentation.
  • shade 2 to 4 are the reason why this palette is such a disappointed product. All 3 shades are poorly pigmented with no color pay off on my eyes except a shimmery gray tone, and they are basically identical.
  • shade 5 is a cool matte taupe with buildable pigmentation.
  • shade 6 is a deep metallic burgundy with a purple undertone, also the most pigmented shade out of all 6 shades.

Application and Pigmentation

The shade 1, 5, and 6 are soft and easy to blend with buildable pigmentation. I really like the textures of these 3 eyeshadows and the colors are perfect for a rose tone palette. However, the rest of the palette is just a disaster. I used all 6 shades to create an eye makeup look, and it turned out to be a grayish purple look thanks to the 3 awkward shades. This makeup seemed very gloomy and dirty in person, definitely not an enhancement for me.

Since I was in a hurry to go out that day and I did not have time to redo my makeup, I fixed my makeup by simply applying some glitter eyeshadow to the middle of my upper eyelids.

I used the metal glam eyeshadow by Essence (discontinued but also a disappointed product as well), any metallic eyeshadow with glitter would work.

100 times better than before.

Conclusion

Overall, I do not recommend this palette unless Catrice changed it to a trio(with shade 1, 4, and 6 only) and cut the price in half. I love Catrice and most of their products are fantastic with affordable prices. As for this Absolute Rose Eyeshadow Palette, some shades are still usable if pairing with additional shades, but still a failure as a palette on its own.
