Ipsy Glam Bag ⋆April 2017⋆ Review & Swatches

It is almost May now, and this review is finally uploaded. Even though the next Ipsy Glam Bag is coming out soon, I hope this review still has some reference values since the items I received in April might still show up in others’ bags in the future months.

Ipsy is a monthly beauty subscription service that includes 4 to 5 beauty items (varies from makeup, skincare, fragrance, haircare, and tools based on your personal preference survey) for $10 a month including shipping and tax. All the items come in an exclusively designed cosmetic bag. There are also detailed tutorials and exclusive offers for each product on Ipsy site. Ipsy is available in both U.S. and Canada (additional $5 fee applies).

First of all, I just want to say that I love the design for this month’s bag and it is perhaps the cutest one ever.

Item #1

PEEK Beauty
eye will stay Naturally Long Wearing Eye Shadow in 250k8 – FULL SIZE! Value $7

The eyeshadow is a warm metallic bronze shade with a velvety finish. The texture is buttery and the pigmentation is rich. The eyeshadow is gorgeous and highly functional.  It can be paired up with any other colors to enhance your eyes. This is the first time I ever tried makeups from PEEK Beauty, and I am very impressed!

I am not sure about the retail price for a single tin (1.3 g) because it only comes in a bundle of 4 for $25 at PEEK BeautyUse code IPSYEYE20 to get 20% off.

Swatches are shown in flashlight and indoor natural light.

Item #2

Ciaté London
Mini Bamboo Bronzer in  Palm Island – DELUXE SIZE (2.8g)! Value $6.5

The bronzer has a neutral undertone with a buildable coverage and a natural finish. It can be blended out easily without any patchiness. The added oil-controlling ingredients help to extend the lasting power and keep your cheek shine free. This bronzer is actually my favorite item out of all 5 I received. I will seriously consider purchasing the full-size version after I finish this tiny little cutie.

The bronzer retails (FULL SIZE 10g) for $28 at Ciaté London. Use code IPSTER to get 30% off.

Swatches are shown in flashlight and indoor natural light.

Item #3

Glamour Dolls

Glamour Dolls x Lisa Frank Angle Blush Brush – FULL SIZE! Value $5

I was so lucky to receive this Angle Blush Brush which was also Ipsy’s featured item. The brush is made of ultra soft synthetic bristles with a rainbow unicorn handle. I used it to apply bronzer to my cheeks and the application is effortless! I am very happy with this item.

The Angle Blush Brush retails for $5 at Glamour Dolls Makeup. No special offers at this time.

Item #4

THEORIE
Marula Oil Transforming Hair Serum- SAMPLE SIZE (0.34 oz)! Value $2.6

Another one of the Marula oil based hair serums! I feel that Marula oil and Morrocan Oil are taking over the haircare world. This hair serum is very light weight (seriously not grease at all!) compares to other hair oils on the market. It is sulfate-free and does exactly what it claims, “moisturizing, healing, and nourishing.”  I do like this serum, but I personally prefer hair products with stronger nourishing power (they have more grease textures) because my hair is extremely dry and damage.

The Hair Serum retails for $26 (3.4 fl. oz./100ML ) at THEORIE. Use code LOVEIPSY30 to get 30% off any Theorie Purchase + Free Shipping.

Item #5 (the last but not the least!)

Dream by PS Cosmeceutical
Infused Nail Lacquer in Southern Sand – FULL SIZE (.34fl oz / 10ml)! Value $14.99

I usually do not like to receive nail polishes in my subscription mail because the nail color preference is such a personal thing, plus the colors I normally got were weird and ugly (many of them are still brand new and collecting dust on my shelf). No matter how I edit my Ipsy personal profile, they continue to send nail polishes to me.

This nail polish is a rare exception. The color is an elegant neutral beige with a cream finish. The consistency was rich and 2 coats were enough to achieve opaque coverage without causing any bubbles on the surface. The lasting power was awesome. After couple days and a hair wash, the finish was still shiny and glossy; there were no chippings at all.

The Nail Lacquer retails for $14.99 (.34fl oz / 10ml) at Dream by PS Cosmeceutical. Use code IPSY30 to get 30% Off Any Purchase.

I tried on all 3 makeup items. This soft eye makeup was created using the bronzer on my outer creases and then applied the metallic eyeshadow all over my eyelids and lower lash lines. Less is more!

I also applied the same bronzer to my cheek using the angle brush. The final result was natural and long lasting with a gorgeous silky finish.

Conclusion

The total value of these 5 items from April Ipsy Glam Bag added up to $36.09. It is kind of low compared to bags from other months, but I really enjoy all the products and I can see myself using them frequently. For me, I rather receive cheap but practical items that I will actually use than getting expensive but unpractical things that I will never use.
