Tarteist PRO Amazonian Clay Palette Review & Swatches
I had the Tarteist PRO Amazonian Clay Palette since it first came out and I have been using it for a while now. This palette is so hyped up and the marketing is pretty aggressive that I see it in every promotional email. Ulta even made a page to introduce the collection. I believe the palette is permanent and companies tend to invest more in advertising permanent collections. Here goes my honest review for this product.
A pro-level, everyday eyeshadow palette with 20 ultra-pigmented shades powered by naturally-derived ingredients.
Take a makeup artist home with this high-performance PRO palette for Instagram-worthy looks powered by healthy ingredients. It includes 16 long-wearing matte eyeshadows infused with Amazonian clay for smooth blending and flake-resistant wear, plus four brand-new iridescent luster shades with a micro shimmer, duo chrome formula. Deeply concentrated mineral pigments and a new smart-blend technology give you the best in even, intense payoff in a range of natural artistry, neutral-to-bold shades for all skin tones and skill levels.

The Tarteist PRO Amazonian Clay Palette comes in a sturdy high-quality plastic compact with a full-size mirror. The mirror is convenient if you take this palette on the go or just simply use it as your makeup mirror. The matte black surface is similar to Nars’ packaging, it looks very professional and elegant but it is also a fingerprint collector.
The compact is big but not bulky at all, and here is a comparison with the Naked 3 Palette from Urban Decay.
Application and Pigmentation
The pigmentation and application varied from shade to shade. All the metallic shades were buttery and rich with duo chrome finishes. There were little to no fall outs. However, glam from 2nd row was very dense and hard to pick up any color. As for the mattes, all the light and medium shades are creamy and soft with buildable coverage with some fallouts. The 4 dark shades (or eyeliner shades) smoked, vamp, drama, and punk were dry and patchy which is pretty common for dark matte shades. Although I was not surprised about these four being disappointing, but it could be better because Tarte is awesome.
I used Eyeshadow Primer Potion from Urban Decay as the base for the swatches and eye makeup.
With natural light
The 1st row features warm browns with an amber undertone.
The 2nd row features neutral browns with plum shades.
The 3rd row features warm taupes with berry shades.
The 4th row features neutral taupes with smokey dark shades.

I used the first row only for this makeup, and I will update this post with more looks created by each row.
Overall, the Tarteist PRO Amazonian Clay Palette is a highly functional palette to create a wide range of different looks from everyday neutrals to smoky eyes. Even though some of the shades were not the best representation of Tarte‘s amazing eyeshadow formula, the gorgeous color combinations and shade selections definitely compensate the shortcomings. I do like this palette and I use it pretty often on regular basis, but to be honest, it is not a must buy especially considering the price. At least not for now, wait for it to be on sale or promotional period.
